We didn't know a huge amount about Tunisia before coming to visit, aside from the fact it used to be a huge UK tourist destination
prior to the tourist incident many years back. Tourism at least from the UK had never fully recovered and you heard a lot less about everyday folks still
visiting here.
Upon looking into setting up a decent road trip through Tunisia we were pleasantly surprised by how many actual sights of potential interest there were from
Roman ruins to deserts to salt lakes and gorgeous beaches. The more we looked into Tunisia the more excited we were to plan a trip. With all that being said
though we were also hesistant to see how the driving would be.
NOTES: Getting around Tunis can be a problem. Even finding a taxi can be tough and requires flagging them down on the street competing with locals.
NOTES: This is a long drive day, but there isn't much else worth stopping at overnight on route. Also some areas are slightly unsafe so advised against stopping.
Beach front accommodation can be pricey, but places in cities like Tozeur and Tunis can be had for quite cheap. Food in general is also cheap as is car rental and fuel. With the length of the trip, number of sights and methods of travel I'd rate this a moderately expensive trip.
