To fly out and complete what we'd missed during our Eastern Europe road trip in 2017 (for more info on that view here) Albania & Macedonia. Then to fly up to Zurich and complete a drive around Lake Constance taking in four more countries: Switzerland, Germany, Austria & Liechtenstein.
NOTES: This is a short drive (around 2.5 hours), but crosses a country border and for most car rentals will require you to take out third party car insurance in Macedonia. This is quite expensive at 50 Euro for 15 days, and 15 days being the minimum period.
This was a mixed budget trip. Albania and Macedonia were very cheap. Cheap for car rental, cheap for hotels, cheap for good quality food. Also fairly cheap for flights. The flight from Albania to Zurich however was very expensive for such a short flight, around £175 per person. Car rental in Zurich was also much more expensive as of course was the accommodation in Liechenstein. Additionally the price to get the cable car up to the top of Titlis for the glacier cave and cliff walk was again pricey. For such a short trip I'd recommend a per day budget of £200+.
